Chingri Macher Rosa / Jhaal / Prawn Curry

Chingri maach or prawns are loved by worldwide. Its taste is amazing. Whenever prawn is added in a dish, it enhances the taste. Prawn is my all time favourite. So, I love to experiment with prawn. This prawn recipe is very delicious and I guarantee that you will love it.

Time required – 45 mins

i) Chingri or prawn – 25 pieces (medium size)
ii)  Onion – 01 (big size)
iii) Garlic – 5-6 pieces
iv)  Kaju or Cashew – 10-12 pieces
v)  Ginger paste – ½ tsp
vi)  White jeera – 1 tsp
vii)  Green cardamom / Choti elaichi – 2,
viii)  Broken Cinnamon / Dalchini – 1 small piece
ix)  Black pepper – 4-5 pieces
x)  Cloves- 4-5 pieces
xi)  Dried red chilies – 1 piece
xii)  Jeera and dhaniya powder – 1tsp
xiii)  Mustard oil – 3-4 tbs
xiv) Turmeric powder – 1tps
xv) Salt- 1tsp


  1. Clean and wash the prawn thoroughly.
  2. Marinate the prawn with turmeric powder and salt and keep them aside.
  3. Peel off the onion.
  4. Now boil the onion, cashew n garlic and make a fine paste along with salt and water.
  5. Put on the flame. Heat oil in kadai.
  6. When smoke comes out, fry the prawn until they turns pink.
  7. Put off the fried prawn from the kadai.
  8. In the same oil, add Green cardamom, Broken Cinnamon, Black pepper, Cloves, white jeera and dried chilies.
  9. Add the smooth paste in it. Sprinkle turmeric powder.
  10. Now add ginger paste, jeera dhaniya powder, salt and mix them thoroughly.
  11. Cover the kadai and let it cook for 7-8mins.
  12. When oil comes out from the mixture, add the fried prawns and cook it for 1-2 mins.
  13. Put off the flame.
  14. Our prawn rosa or curry is ready to serve.

Serve the dish with hot steamed rice.
