“Macher dimer bora / Fried fish egg”

In general, the egg of Katla fish is used for preparing the dish. It is a simple dish and needs very few ingredients. It is very easy to execute. It is mouthwatering snacks.

Health Benefits:
Fish eggs are also called caviar or roe. They are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, protein and vitamin B12. They fights against ageing and improves brain health. They are beneficial for our eyes also. They help in lowering the level of blood pressure.

Time required:-15-20mins. (approx.)

Course:-Lunch/Dinner/evening snacks

Can be served with: –Hot steamed rice or in the evening with hot coffee.

Ingredients :-
·      Katla maach er dim/ Fish egg -300 gm
·        Besan / Gram flour – 1 tbsp
·        Green chilies – 04
·        Onion- 1-2
·        Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
·        Salt – as per taste
Mustard oil – 04 tbsp

Direction for the recipe:-

  1. Clean and wash the fish egg properly and keep them in a bowl and mash them by hand.
  2. Finely chopped the onion and green chilies.
  3. Now add the chopped onion, green chilies in the bowl.
  4. Then add besun/ Gram flour, salt and turmeric powder. Besan is used as a binding material.
  5. Mix them well. No water is needed for mixing all the ingredients.
  6. Heat oil in a kadai and wait till smoke starts coming.
  7. Scoop out little from the fish egg mixture with the help of spoon or simply by hand and add it to the kadai. You can make 8-10 bora/ snacks with the mixture.Do the frying in 2-3 batches.So, add maximum of 3-4 scoop in one batch.
  8. When they turns golden, with the help of a spatula turn the other side and fry them.
  9. When both the sides turn golden, remove them from the pan. Your delicious hot “Macher dim er bora” is ready to serve.
