Kaacha Aamer Tok / Kacacha Aamer Ambol

 To beat the scorching heat in summer, this recipe is very helpful. This is a very popular dish in Bengal. An authentic Bengali meal is always served with sweets, chutney or tok. Our summer lunch is incomplete without “Kaacha Aamer Tok.” The dish is very simple, requires very less ingredients and easy cooking. The main ingredient is raw mango which are easily available in summer. The taste of the dish is sweet and tangy and it has enormous health benefit.



Raw mango is enriched with vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, calcium and magnesium. It prevents our body from dehydration, detoxifies our liver and helpful in constipation, indigestion and many more health benefits. It is a boon for our health.

Ingredients required
·      Raw Mango – 1(big)
·      Dried chilies – 1 or 2
·      Black mustard seeds – 1 tea spoon
·      Turmeric powder – ½ tea spoon
·      Salt – ½ tea spoon
·      Sugar – 3 or more table spoon (as per your taste )
·      Oil – 2 table spoon (mustard or refined, as per your choice)
·      Water – 4-5 cup



  1. Wash the raw mango thoroughly and peel it off and sliced it in vertical.
  2. Put on the flame. Heat oil in kadai.
  3. When smoke starts coming out from the oil, pour the raw mango.
  4. Add salt and turmeric power and stir it. Fry them for 2-3mins.
  5. Take out the fried mango from kadai and keep them aside.
  6. In the same oil, (you can add oil if required) add dried red chillies and black mustard seeds and let them splutter properly.
  7. Now add the fried mango. Stir for 1min..
  8. Add water and leave it for 5-7mins and cook them until the mangos become soft.
  9. Add sugar in it and cook it for 2mins more.
  10. Put off the flame.

Your “KAACHA AAM ER TOK” is ready to serve.
